Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD), which has a laser focus on providing a world-class education, is proud of our administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students and partnerships that contribute to our amazing school community. There are 30 schools within the Scottsdale Unified School District. At the local level, SUSD’s “quality of education”, “superior schools” and “excellent school district” have been cited as contributing factors for several awards and recognitions that the City of Scottsdale has received, including NerdWallet’s Second Best City in Arizona for Young Families (2013), America’s Promise-The Alliance for Youth’s 100 Best Cities for Young People for the sixth consecutive year (2012), and Businessweek.com’s Fourth Best City to Live (2011). At the State level, we have earned an A rating from the Arizona Department of Education for the third year in a row SUSD is one of only18 school districts out of 282 districts across Arizona to receive this top distinction.
At the national level, SUSD has been recently recognized by the United States Department of Education for our multi-tiered systems of support, such as Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) that guide students to achieve better academic success. On Wednesday, September 11th, as part of the United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan’s Back-to-School Bus Tour in Arizona, SUSD will host a celebratory event at Tonalea Elementary School with Acting US Department of Education Assistant Secretary Michael Yudin.
